The final round of my SQLScript for BW consultants training on August 1 & 2, 2019 took place online. This allowed the participants to attend from their office or from home, without the hassle and costs of traveling here to Mannheim. Thanks to modern conferencing software (we tried both Zoom and GoToMeeting), plenty of bandwidth, and webcams on everyone's side, very close and productive collaboration was possible.
My conclusion: I will gladly offer the online training format again next year (or whenever there is a specific need).
Addendum / Update from April 2022
When this article was published in August 2019, remote training was not that common. As we all know, that changed radically in 2020 with Covid-19. Since then it has become the standard. I'm glad that we addressed this topic early on. This allowed the transition to be carried out smoothly. But I'm also looking forward to the time when I can more often travel to customers again. Because in the end, an on-site training is by far the better option.
