Cadaxo SQL Cockpit Webinar

Anyone who knows me knows: I like SQL. That's why I wrote the book SQLScript for SAP HANA years ago. In SAP projects, SQL is often the fastest way to understand data models (and the data behind them), narrow down errors, or simply find out what is really happening in the system.

For ABAP development, I like to use the ABAP SQL console in the ABAP Development Tools. When modeling in BW, I'm usually even allowed to use the HANA SQL console. But at the latest when looking at production systems, things get more complicated: authorizations and access often throw a spanner in the works.

With the SQL Cockpit, Cadaxo has built a tool that addresses exactly this point. Oliver Wahrstötter from Cadaxo told me about it and said, roughly: "If you show it to an SAP technician for a few minutes, they usually understand very quickly why it can be useful."

I gladly took up the challenge. And out of it came the idea of perhaps hosting this publicly as a free webinar. We'll take an hour, he'll show me the system, and I'll play the critical customer who wants to be convinced.

What is the webinar about?

Oliver will demonstrate the Cadaxo SQL Cockpit for SAP systems live. I'll look at the tool from the perspective of an SAP developer, SQL author, and trainer – and ask the questions that come to my mind.

For example:

  • What can the SQL Cockpit do that I can't also achieve with ADT, SE16N, or DBACOCKPIT?
  • How useful is an SQL tool directly in the SAP GUI today?
  • How does the tool handle authorizations and production systems?
  • How can queries be saved, shared, and reused?
  • Can it help you prepare support cases better?
  • How do saved result lists and data comparisons work?
  • Where are the limits of the tool?

It's important to me that this doesn't turn into a watered-down product presentation. Of course the SQL Cockpit is a Cadaxo product. But that's precisely why I don't just want to hear what's possible, but also understand when it really helps – and when perhaps it doesn't.

Why do I find the topic exciting?

In many SAP development and support teams, similar situations keep coming up:

A document behaves differently than expected. An interface run delivered data, but not all of it. A Customizing entry is missing. Data states need to be compared before and after a transport. A support case occurs regularly, and someone once built a good SQL analysis for it – but no one can find it anymore.

Such situations cost time. Not because SQL is the problem, but because I'm denied access to a usable SQL console.

Who is the webinar for?

The webinar is aimed primarily at:

  • SAP developers
  • ABAP teams
  • SAP Basis and operations teams
  • support and application management teams
  • technical SAP leads
  • anyone who regularly has to analyze data in SAP systems

It's not about SQL for business departments without a technical background. We'll stay technical – but practical.

Agenda

Date: Thursday, July 9, 2026 Time: 10:00 AM Format: Live webinar Speakers: Oliver Wahrstötter, Cadaxo GmbH, and Jörg Brandeis, Brandeis Consulting GmbH

Oliver will demonstrate the SQL Cockpit live in the system. I'll take on the role of the curious and critical SAP colleague: What is practical? What is unfamiliar? What would I ask in a real project? And where do you need to take a closer look?

We're happy to take questions during the webinar.
