What are the Magdeburg Developer Days?
In May 2026, the 11th Magdeburg Developer Days (MDD for short) will take place in Magdeburg. By now, the MDD have become the largest community conference of software developers for software developers in Germany. Visitors come from the German-speaking region – that is, primarily from Germany, Austria and Switzerland (D-A-CH for short). In terms of content, there is something for every developer: from hardcore nerd topics to discussions about the future of software development with and without AI. SAP topics may not be dominant here, but they are represented.
We at Brandeis really wanted to be part of it with SAP topics!
One-day workshop "Modern SAP ABAP and Clean Core"
As part of the conference, there is always a workshop day: on 2026-05-18.
Here we offer the workshop "Modern SAP ABAP and Clean Core". The workshop is aimed at individual SAP developers or developer teams who want to quickly dive into the modern SAP ABAP world in a one-day workshop.
It will cover modern ABAP, Clean Core, the role of the SAP BTP, low code, CDS, RAP, embedded analytics, integration of external systems, the use of AI, and also the renaissance of ABAP Objects: our SAP extension options of the future.
So, specifically: What does Clean Core mean for developers? What is, from SAP's point of view, no longer allowed as of now? What successor concepts are there? Which technologies and tools should you get familiar with? How do these technologies and tools feel? How can you get started?
For you, we have put together what we consider to be the most important topics from our technical training offerings around modern ABAP from https://www.brandeis.de/training/.
From our perspective, this is ideal for quickly getting into the topic of modern ABAP and Clean Core and being able to join the conversation.
Talk "Introduction to data-driven manufacturing"
In addition, in cooperation with the Elbfabrik Magdeburg of the Fraunhofer IFF, there will be the talk "Introduction to data-driven manufacturing". Together with the author of the whitepaper "Data-driven manufacturing" – Tobias Kutzler – we take a look into the "engine room" of the Elbfabrik Magdeburg and explain how you can make production fit for the future with modern approaches.
It is about digitalization and automation with and without AI. We will prepare a few impressive demos that are integrated with an SAP ABAP system. The ticket for our workshop costs EUR 515.00 individually. Together with tickets for the conference, you get a discount. Sales started on 2026-03-16. Around a third of the tickets were already gone on the first day.
