A quick look back at SAP CodeJam and the 10th HANA Tech Night, both held on June 3rd in Mannheim. It was a truly successful day where I learned a lot, had a great time, and met plenty of interesting people. Unfortunately, it took a few days to finish this article. The last two weeks were very intense with Code Connect and trainings.
The SAP CodeJam Machine Learning
My most exciting SAP CodeJam so far! The topic of Machine Learning is presented brilliantly by Vitaliy Rudnitskiy. Entertaining, educational, and not a lot of typing or copy & paste. Thanks to Jupyter Notebook, the exercises are really easy!

There were a few spontaneous changes to the planned agenda:
- Christohp Morgen gave us some additional information about the Predictive Analysis Library (PAL)
- The coffee machine died. So at short notice I grabbed the portafilter coffee machine from the office and got to work as a barista.
- At the end, Benedict showed us a bit about text mining.
Barbecue
Between the Code Jam and the HTN there were two hours to spare. So we fired up the grill and got started with the refreshing drinks.

Christopher Kampmann
Last but not least came the talk by Christopher Kampmann. He shared some practical experiences from SAP DataSphere projects with us. The slides contain a very interesting point: bitemporal master data. This always ties developers' and consultants' brains in knots.
Conclusion
As always, the HANA Tech Night was a fantastic event with outstanding talks and plenty of interesting contacts. With the SAP CodeJam beforehand and the barbecue in between, it was taken to a whole new level.
I'm already looking forward to the next 10 HANA Tech Nights!
